The 7% tax rate is set to expire on Sept 30, said director-general Prasong Poontaneat. The new tax structure has increased the annual starting income for the top tax rate of 35% to 5 million baht from 4 million baht. The new tax structure will also abolish the cap on the child allowance, currently limited at three children. Those who earn a monthly income of up to 25,833 baht will be exempted from personal income tax -- up from 20,000 baht. The department has estimated that its tax revenue will miss the target of 1.89 trillion baht by 140 billion baht for this fiscal year.
